Oriental rugs, Kilims and hemp rugs
Oriental rugs
Oriental rugs bring warmth and splendour to any home. Whether it be a modern, minimalist studio flat or a traditional rural farmhouse, the appeal of the oriental carpet is timeless.
All our rugs are from India, Afghanistan and Iran and are hand-knotted and made using traditional methods. We are always happy to source rugs of specific size, type and colour on our buying trips, for customers who are looking for a product that we do not have in stock. We can also source oversize carpets (e.g. 20m2) for you to try out in your home with no obligation to buy.
Kilims
Kilim is the Turkish word for a flatweave rug or a rug with no pile. These marvellously decorated tribal weavings from the Kurdish peoples of north-west Iran to the exotically colourful pieces from Afghanistan, not only retain their distinctive, strong character, but have become spectacular and useful features of modern western interior design. eastofhere stock a huge range of modern and vintage, Afghan and Iranian Kilims.

Throws and quilts
The majority of our throws and quilts are made by skilled female workers in a co-operative in Northern India. The intricate and varied designs are traditional handicrafts from Jaipur and Gujarat.
Throws are particularly versatile have a multitude of uses. They can liven up any room as a bedspread or wall hanging and make perfect gifts. We should point out however, that they are too delicate to use as sofa coverings.
Our beautiful hand-blocked Jaipuri quilts are available in a selection of sizes and many styles. They are 100% cotton and are machine washable up to 30 degrees. A cool and lightweight alternative to a duvet in the summer and extra warmth on the bed in the winter.
Our roots
Our showrooms are situated in Historic Chapel Street, Penzance, Cornwall.
in 1892, at a small 'live-over' shop in St Ives, Joseph White cut out window blinds on his kitchen table. This simple act helped to form the foundations of the family owned, Whites the Furnishers, a company that has played an integral role in the business communities of St Ives and Penzance ever since.
Joseph's grandson Roger took over from his father Cecil in 1968 and rebranded the business as Roger White Interiors; a company specialising in bespoke interior design and more recently, rugs and artefacts from the east.
In October 2001, Polly White, great granddaughter of Joseph, and her husband Stephen began a new stage of the family's trading legacy - eastofhere.
