The Kazakh rug originates not, as one might think, from Kazakhstan, but rather from the border region where Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia trisect. They usually exhibit bright reds and strong blues, and often have three medallions of approximately equal size spaced vertically up the carpet. This Kazakh runner is made by skilled Afghan weavers in Pakistan, and features a prominent abrash effect in its field.
