This vintage carpet was made in the city of Sirjan in the south eastern province of Kerman in Iran. Sirjan rugs are generally defined by their single central medallions that are repeated vertically up and down the carpet. This rug follows this typical style, but with three columns of repeating motifs in the classic deep blue and red colours of Afshari weaving.
