Sultani Ziegler Runner, 256 x 83cm
Sultani rugs are named after the Turkmen word, Sultan, meaning king. They are woven using hand spun wools which are coloured using natural dyes such as pomegranate, walnut and saffron. Their colours are usually bright, reflecting the regal style of sultans of the past.
"Ziegler" refers to the stylised floral design made popular by the Anglo-Swiss rug distributor Ziegler & Co. in the late nineteenth century.
