Hamadan is believed to be among Iran's oldest cities, with a history stretching back as far as the Assyrian Empire in the twelfth century BC. Today, a great number of quality rugs are made by the people of Hamadan County, many of which are sold under different names (Navahand and Tuyserkan both being examples). This rug is rich in the deep blue indigoes and dark reds typical of the region.
